I received my epilator in the mail today. I decided to try it out on my arms first (because I had just shaved my legs yesterday). While it hurt at first, I either my arm became numb or I just got used to it. This was MUCH less painful than when I got my tattoo on my ankle. :) I was able to remove the hair on both forearms in about ten minutes. 1-1/2 hours later and the skin on my arms still hurts, but it is bearable. It feels somewhat like a slight sunburn. Even though I was using this in our bathroom right by the ten vanity bulbs, I'm glad that the Braun epilator 5270 has the bright light because it let me see all of the hairs that I couldn't see with our regular lights. The cord was long enough to give me room to move around a little and it is very pliable so that it didn't get in the way while using the epilator. Cleaning the epilator after using it on my arms was pretty straightforward. I was AMAZED to see how much hair it had collected. There are still some shorter hairs to remove on my arms but I had already planned on using the epilator tomorrow on my arms again as this was sort of my "trial run". In a few months' use, I think this will have paid for itself because I won't be buying replacement blades for my shaver. Now I'm actually looking forward to my leg hairs to grow long enough to use this on them. :D Would I recommend this to my friends? Yes!

As a life-long athlete, I shave regularly. Tried creams in the 70s but never epilators. What a surprise: did a great job, only painful the first time and tolerable. Even tried brazilian and tolerable. No ingrown hairs and only slight redness which went away quickly. Great product and will probably look for smaller, portable one for travel. Time saver but smooth outcome is the best!

I have been regularly removing my chest hair by waxing, but, since waxing always leaves a few hairs behind, I'd always have to follow up for a few days, as time allowed, to finish up with a pair of tweezers. Since time is at a premium these days, I wondered if this thing might be an effective alternative. I just tried it today, and man! I hit the jackpot! I was done in about five minutes, and cleared just about everything away. Previous postings made reference to pain -- in my case, I felt NO pain. The sensation was definitely odd at first, then not noticeable at all. I was able to really press it close against my skin to get at the tiniest hairs. The only difficulty I experienced was around the nipple area. Mine are definitely very sensitive, so much so, that even when I waxed, I tended to leave a few hairs around it to minimize the possibility of injury to them with the wax strips. I was being very cautious, at first, but once I got a sense of how the thing would be effective in that area, I proceeded to effectively remove those, as well. More effective than waxing, in a lot less time, and no pain. Outstanding!
